Iran Denies US Claims of Breakthrough Deal to Halt Nuclear Program

TEHRAN / WASHINGTON — Iran’s Foreign Ministry has flatly rejected claims made by US President Donald Trump that Tehran has agreed to halt its nuclear weapons development, clarifying that no such discussions have taken place. Official spokespersons stated that the Islamic Republic’s current priority remains securing a permanent end to active regional hostilities rather than engaging in nuclear diplomacy with Washington.

In a press briefing, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei emphasized that Tehran is not involved in any negotiations regarding the specific details of its nuclear program with the United States. “We know exactly when to act concerning the nuclear issue,” Baghaei stated. “No detailed talks on this matter have occurred. At this critical juncture, our primary objective is bringing a swift conclusion to the ongoing war.”

Baghaei further accused the United States of repeatedly violating existing ceasefire agreements, alleging an unprovoked American infraction occurred as recently as Monday morning. “We will take any necessary measures to safeguard Iran’s national security,” he added, without providing additional operational details.

The statements follow a US Military confirmation on Monday (June 1) detailing defensive airstrikes targeting radar systems and drone facilities in Iran’s Gork region and Qasem Island. While the Pentagon classified these maneuvers as strictly “self-defense operations,” the retaliatory strikes underscore the volatile gridlock between the two nations, even as Tehran signals that its immediate diplomatic focus is conflict resolution rather than non-proliferation.
