DHAKA — Highlighting the expanding economic and development cooperation between Bangladesh and Spain, the Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser, Humayun Kabir, has invited Spanish entrepreneurs to scale up their investments in the South Asian nation.
The call was made during a high-level bilateral meeting on Thursday (June 18) at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon, where Adviser Kabir hosted the Spanish Ambassador to Dhaka, Gabriel Maria Sistiaga Ochoa de Chinchetru.
“Bangladesh has emerged as a stable and highly promising destination for foreign direct investment,” the Foreign Adviser stated during the talks. “The government remains deeply committed to ensuring a seamless, business-friendly environment for international investors.”
Expanding Strategic Cooperation
The discussions focused extensively on diversifying the traditionally warm bilateral ties into a multi-faceted strategic partnership. Key sectors identified for enhanced collaboration included:
Trade and specialized investments
Renewable energy and infrastructure logistics
Agro-processing, tourism, and technology transfer
Higher education and skilled human resource development
Ambassador Sistiaga lauded Bangladesh’s sustained economic trajectory, its business-friendly regulatory framework, and its critical geopolitical positioning. He expressed strong interest from Madrid in boosting commercial engagement and expanding Spanish investment footprints, particularly across manufacturing, green energy, infrastructure, and technology sectors.
Both officials underscored the importance of driving stronger business-to-business (B2B) linkages between the private sectors of both nations, concluding the meeting with a shared commitment to elevate Spain-Bangladesh relations to new heights.
