The Sylhet District Tax Bar Association on Wednesday held a memorial meeting in honor of its late member, Advocate Mohammad Yasinul Haque, remembering his outstanding contributions to the legal profession and the country’s tax administration.
Speaking as the chief guest at the event, Joint Commissioner of Taxes of Sylhet Tax Zone, Soumitra Kumar Bhowmik, described the late lawyer as “a shining star” of the Sylhet Tax Bar Association.
“He will be remembered for his honesty, professionalism, and dedicated legal service. As a successful tax lawyer, he played a significant role in strengthening the income tax system and contributing to revenue collection,” Bhowmik said.
The memorial meeting was held at the association’s hall in Mendibagh, Sylhet, under the chairmanship of Association President Samar Bijoy C. Sekhar, Advocate, and was moderated by Joint General Secretary (1) and Income Tax Lawyer Md. Khairul Alam. Deputy Commissioner of Taxes Md. Golam Kibria attended the program as the special guest.
In his remarks, Bhowmik added that the late advocate’s integrity and commitment to the legal profession would remain an inspiration for young and aspiring lawyers. “With his untimely passing, we have lost a highly competent and respected legal professional whose absence will be difficult to fill,” he said.
The program began with a recitation from the Holy Quran by Treasurer Advocate A.S.M. Mubinul Haque Shaheen. General Secretary Mohammad Azizur Rahman, Advocate, delivered the welcome address. Participants also observed a one-minute silence in memory of the deceased.
Among others who spoke at the memorial were Vice President and Income Tax Lawyer Mohammad Ali Khokon, Treasurer Advocate A.S.M. Mubinul Haque Shaheen, member Advocate Mostakim Ahmad Kawsar, Income Tax Lawyers Sadrul Hasan Chowdhury and Md. Kamal Ahmad, and the late advocate’s wife, Twayeba Yasmin, Head Teacher of Lalnagar Hakim Ali Government Primary School in Golapganj Upazila.
A special prayer seeking eternal peace for the departed soul was conducted by Income Tax Lawyer Md. Nizam Uddin Khan.
Speakers at the event paid tribute to Advocate Mohammad Yasinul Haque’s distinguished professional career, unwavering integrity, and valuable contributions to the Sylhet District Tax Bar Association. The memorial was attended by the association’s office bearers, senior members, and tax lawyers.
