NEW YORK — Five people were rushed to hospital Sunday evening after a stabbing broke out inside Penn Station in Midtown Manhattan, according to the New York City Fire Department. Emergency responders were dispatched to the station, located near 33rd
Street and Seventh Avenue, shortly after 7 p.m. One victim sustained serious injuries, two others were moderately wounded, and two more suffered minor injuries. All five were transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
Amtrak police confirmed that a suspect was taken into custody at the scene. An investigation is currently underway. The attack left blood and debris visible inside the Amtrak section of the station, which was cordoned off by authorities as part of the
ongoing investigation. The stabbing took place approximately 24 hours before President Donald Trump is scheduled to attend Game 3 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden — located directly adjacent to Penn Station. The presidential visit is expected to bring an extensive security operation to the surrounding area, including TSA-style screening measures at the arena and its environs.
This is a developing story.
