GENEVA — Iran has indicated that a fresh round of diplomatic talks with the United States in Switzerland remains under consideration, amidst growing ambiguity surrounding the schedule and logistics of the high-stakes meeting.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stated that diplomatic channels and intermediary efforts could see discussions continue over the coming hours. Meanwhile, an official statement released on Iranian state media echoed this sentiment, confirming that communication through third-party mediators remains ongoing.
According to Swiss officials cited by Reuters, delegations from both Washington and Tehran are slated to convene tomorrow for preliminary discussions. The talks are expected to take place at Bürgenstock, a secluded mountain resort in Switzerland. In addition to the primary parties, key mediating nations—including Pakistan and Qatar—are also scheduled to participate to discuss the initial implementation of the recent bilateral agreement.
However, official sources from both sides have yet to release specific details regarding the exact timeline or the structural agenda of the meeting.
The development follows reports that an official, in-person signing ceremony was originally scheduled for Friday in Switzerland. However, the process was subsequently expedited electronically. On Wednesday (June 17), US President Donald Trump finalized the agreement by signing a physical copy of the document.
