Metropolitan University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Mohammad Zahirul Haque has said that practicing pure and authentic culture is essential to awaken morality and aesthetic values in society. He noted that the world today is immersed in division, violence, and intolerance. “Humanity and moral consciousness can establish peace in our society,” he said.

He further added that one of the biggest crises in society today is the shortage of righteous individuals. He praised Charubak Sylhet for working tirelessly for the past 30 years to nurture and develop such individuals.
He made these remarks as the chief guest at a program held on Friday afternoon, April 10, at the Sylhet District Shilpakala Academy Auditorium, marking the 30th anniversary of Charubak Sylhet.
The event was presided over by Charubak Sylhet President Jyoti Bhattacharya. The inauguration was conducted by Rajesh Bhatia, Second Secretary (Press, Information, Culture and Education) at the Assistant High Commission of India in Sylhet.
Special guests included UK Councillor and women’s rights activist Sabina Khan, Professor Dr. Himadri Shekhar Roy of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet District Cultural Officer Al Mamun bin Saleh, poet, essayist and recitation artist Saleh Ahmed Khosru, social worker Jyotirmoy Singh Majumder, and Acting Editor of Daily Jugabheri, writer and researcher Apurba Sharma.
The welcome speech was delivered by Charubak General Secretary Niranjan De Jadu.
Speakers at the event said that there is no alternative to cultural practice in building a humane, liberal and enlightened society. They noted that Charubak has been working toward this goal for three decades and continues to inspire the younger generation.
Organizers said that despite various challenges, Charubak’s 30-year journey has reached its current milestone, and the organization will continue working to bring positive change in society in the future.
The event, hosted by Faiza Qureshi and Titas Das, featured a festive atmosphere with vibrant cultural performances throughout the program. At the end, guests, audience members, and artists jointly enjoyed a joyful Dhamaal dance performance.
Organizers expressed gratitude to all guests through the organization’s founder, recitation artist and trainer Jyoti Bhattacharya, and writer and documentarian Niranjan De.
