‘Dom’ Hits New York Screens — Bioskope Films Continues to Pioneer Bangladeshi Cinema in America

Inspired by a true story and directed by Redoan Rony, the Bangladeshi film “Dom — Until the Last Breath” is set to make its grand New York debut this Friday, April 10, at Kew Garden Cinemas in Queens. Running three shows daily — at 2 PM, 5 PM and 8 PM — the film will screen continuously for seven days from April 10 through April 16 at 81-05 Lefferts Boulevard, Kew Garden, Queens, NY 11415. Advance tickets are already available both at the theatre box office and online.

Handling US distribution is Bioskope Films LLC, and “Dom” marks the company’s 53rd release in America, a number that speaks volumes about just how far this organization has come in bringing Bangladeshi cinema to diaspora audiences. In a landscape where getting a Bengali film into a mainstream American movie theater was once considered nearly impossible, Bioskope Films has quietly and persistently rewritten the rules, establishing itself as the undisputed pioneer of Bangladeshi film distribution in the United States.

There was a time when watching a Bangladeshi film abroad meant gathering around a small screen in a community hall with a grainy VHS cassette.

Those days are firmly behind us. Thanks to the vision and relentless effort of organizations like Bioskope Films, audiences in New York, New Jersey, Texas, Georgia and other American cities can now experience their favorite films on a proper big screen, in real movie theatres,
with full cinematic sound and atmosphere. This is more than entertainment — it is a powerful way of keeping Bangladeshi culture, language and identity alive thousands of miles from home.

“Dom” has already left a strong impression on audiences back in Bangladesh. Produced in association with SVF and Alpha-i and connected with the Chorki platform, this true-story-based film carries the kind of emotional and dramatic weight that resonates deeply with Bengali audiences everywhere. For the Bangladeshi and Bengali community of New York, this is a rare opportunity to experience compelling homegrown storytelling on the big screen. Organizers are warmly inviting everyone to come with family and friends, and are encouraging audiences to book their tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.
