Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed his willingness to work closely with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to further strengthen long-term and stable bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries.
According to North Korea’s state news agency KCNA, Xi made the remarks in a message sent in response to Kim’s congratulatory note marking the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.
In his message, Xi thanked Kim for the greetings and highlighted the longstanding ties between the Communist Party of China and the Workers’ Party of Korea, describing both as Marxist ruling parties with shared ideological foundations.
Xi said he is prepared to work with Kim to promote the sustained, stable and long-term development of China-North Korea relations while advancing the socialist goals of both countries through closer cooperation.
The exchange of messages comes ahead of the 65th anniversary of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between China and North Korea, which will be observed on July 11.
The latest diplomatic exchange also follows Xi’s state visit to Pyongyang in June, his first trip to North Korea in seven years, reflecting continued efforts by both sides to reinforce their longstanding strategic partnership.
