US President Donald Trump returned to the White House earlier than scheduled from his weekend stay at Camp David as tensions escalated in the Middle East following a Houthi ballistic missile attack targeting Saudi Arabia’s capital, Riyadh.
Trump had been expected to remain at the presidential retreat in Maryland until Sunday but returned to Washington on Saturday. The White House did not immediately provide a reason for the change in his schedule.
The early return came hours after Saudi Arabia’s Saudi-led coalition said Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi movement had launched a ballistic missile toward Riyadh. Saudi air defenses said they intercepted the missile. Residents reported explosions in the capital, while fires and heavy smoke were seen near King Khalid International Airport.
