At least four Palestinians, including a child and the eldest son of Gaza’s Health Ministry director-general, were killed in Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip, according to Palestinian medical and civil defence sources cited by Al Jazeera. Three people were killed on Saturday, while another died from injuries sustained in an attack the previous day.
Among those killed was Basir al-Bursh, the eldest son of Munir al-Bursh, director-general of Gaza’s Health Ministry. Basir was killed in a drone strike in the al-Zahra area west of the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza, with another person seriously wounded.
Health official’s son killed in Jabalia
Basir al-Bursh was taken to hospital after suffering heavy blood loss but was pronounced dead on arrival, according to Al Jazeera.
Video obtained by the network showed Munir al-Bursh carrying his son’s body, wrapped in a blanket, as relatives and mourners took him to hospital by ambulance.
Munir al-Bursh said his son had told him that Israeli forces were targeting both of them. He said Basir was struck by a drone missile shortly after leaving their tent.
The strike reportedly occurred while students were attending classes at alternative learning centres established by local organisations near a field hospital, according to Al Jazeera correspondent Hani Mahmoud.
Reuters also reported Basir’s death and said the Israeli military confirmed it had targeted militants, including Basir, but provided few details about the circumstances of the strike.
Gaza’s Health Ministry expressed condolences to Munir al-Bursh following the death of his eldest son.
Civilian vehicle hit in Gaza City
Elsewhere on Saturday, an Israeli drone struck a civilian vehicle in the Sheikh Radwan market area of Gaza City, killing one person and injuring at least four others, including two children, according to Gaza’s civil defence agency.
The vehicle caught fire and burned for an extended period before rescue workers extinguished the flames. A body taken to al-Shifa Medical Complex was reportedly burned beyond recognition.
Al Jazeera correspondent Hani Mahmoud said the vehicle was hit by at least one drone missile and continued burning for around half an hour before ambulances, paramedics and civil defence teams reached the scene.
The Israeli military did not immediately provide a public explanation for the strike on Basir al-Bursh, according to Al Jazeera. Reuters, however, reported that the military said it had targeted militants in the latest strikes.
The latest deaths come despite a US-brokered ceasefire announced in October 2025. Palestinian officials and Israeli authorities have continued to accuse each other of violations, while deadly attacks in Gaza have persisted.
