At least six Palestinians, including a nine-year-old child, were killed in Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip on Sunday, according to Palestinian health officials, as mediators continued efforts to preserve and advance ceasefire negotiations.
Medical officials said nine-year-old Tala Abu Matar was killed after Israeli fire struck a tented area east of the Al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza. The Israeli military said it had no immediate information regarding the reported incident.
In a separate attack, an Israeli airstrike on a metal workshop in the Sabra neighborhood of Gaza City killed four people. Witnesses said the site was struck by three missiles. The Israeli military said it had targeted what it described as “terrorist” sites but did not provide evidence or further details to support the claim.
Another person was killed in a strike on a tent camp in the Al-Mawasi area near Khan Younis in southern Gaza, according to medical workers. Several others, including children, were reported injured. The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the incident.
The Israeli military also said it had killed two Hamas fighters in northern Gaza, alleging they had been planning attacks against Israeli troops. The claim could not be independently verified.
The latest violence comes as international mediators continue discussions aimed at sustaining the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. Although the truce that began in October 2025 significantly reduced large-scale fighting, Palestinian officials say more than 1,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli military operations since the agreement took effect. Israel, meanwhile, says four of its soldiers have been killed in Gaza during the same period.
Amid renewed hostilities, Hamas officials have traveled to Cairo for talks on advancing the second phase of a U.S.-backed peace initiative proposed by President Donald Trump, as diplomatic efforts to secure a more durable ceasefire continue.
