Cuba is intensifying its preparations to counter a possible military aggression from the United States. As part of these efforts, the Cuban government has issued a directive called the “Family Guide,” outlining safety measures and instructions for families in the event of a potential attack.
According to Reuters, the directive is based on Cuba’s defense doctrine known as the “War of All the People.” Adopted after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the strategy focuses on resisting foreign aggression through guerrilla warfare, local militias, and civilian defense networks.
Helen Yaffe, a professor at the University of Glasgow, said that nearly all Cubans receive military training and are considered part of the country’s national defense system.
Experts believe that launching a military operation in Cuba would not be as easy as in countries like Venezuela. Latin America analyst Carlos Malamud stated that Cuba’s military is better trained and equipped with more modern resources compared to Venezuela’s armed forces.
Since returning to office for a second term, US President Donald Trump has imposed a series of sanctions on Cuba. At the same time, Washington has increased its military presence around the country. The United States claims that Cuba has become a threat to American national security because of its security and intelligence ties with China and Russia.
