Bangladesh Crush Zimbabwe for 141 in ODI Opener

Bangladesh commenced their three-match One-Day International series against Zimbabwe with a commanding performance, bowling the hosts out for a meager 141 runs in 36.4 overs. The Zimbabwe batting lineup crumbled under a fiery spell of pace bowling, giving the visitors a brilliant start to the limited-overs leg of their tour.

Zimbabwe’s batsmen struggled to build partnerships, with opener Newman Nyamhuri top-scoring with a resilient 33 off 51 deliveries. Skipper Richard Ngarava added 27 runs from 41 balls, while Innocent Kaia contributed a steady 26. Contributions from Ben Curran (18) and Brian Bennett (17) did little to stabilize the innings as the batting unit failed to weather the clinical bowling assault.

The chief destroyer for Bangladesh was young speedster Nahid Rana, who dismantled the opposition with an exceptional spell, returning career-best figures of 6 wickets for just 21 runs in his 10 overs. Senior pacer Taskin Ahmed supported well from the other end, claiming 2 wickets for 32 runs in 7 overs, while captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz chipped in with one wicket.

The emphatic bowling display provides a much-needed boost for Bangladesh on this multi-format tour, following a heavy defeat in the preceding solitary Test match, where they lost by an innings and 85 runs. With the ODI series underway, the teams are also scheduled to compete in a three-match T20I series later this month.
