Lionel Messi’s final appearance for Argentina is set to come with a hefty price tag, with tickets for the farewell match against Benin at Buenos Aires’ Monumental Stadium ranging from 90,000 to 480,000 Argentine pesos.
The Argentine Football Association (AFA) has confirmed the ticket prices for three upcoming friendlies: Argentina will face Bolivia on September 30 in Córdoba, Burkina Faso on October 3 in Buenos Aires, and Benin on October 6 at the Monumental. Messi is expected to feature only in the final match, which will mark his farewell to the national team.
The AFA announced that tickets for the Benin match will go on sale exclusively through Deportick from 6 p.m. on September 22.
Ticket prices for Messi’s farewell
The prices for the October 6 match are:
Popular/general admission: 90,000 pesos
Children aged 3–10: 29,000 pesos
Upper Sívori and Centenario stands: 180,000 pesos
Middle Sívori and Centenario stands: 320,000 pesos
Upper San Martín and Belgrano stands: 320,000 pesos
Lower San Martín and Belgrano stands: 450,000 pesos
Middle San Martín and Belgrano stands: 480,000 pesos
The 480,000-peso seats are the most expensive tickets for the farewell match.
Messi’s final match for Argentina
Messi was included in Argentina’s squad for the upcoming international window after announcing his retirement from international football. The 39-year-old will make his final appearance against Benin on October 6 at the Monumental, according to AFA president Claudio Tapia.
Argentina’s first match of the series will be against Bolivia at the Mario Alberto Kempes Stadium in Córdoba on September 30. The team will then play Burkina Faso at the Monumental on October 3 before Messi’s farewell against Benin three days later.
The AFA has also invited members of Argentina’s 2022 World Cup-winning squad and their families to attend the farewell ceremony.
For Messi, the Benin match will bring his more than two-decade international career with Argentina to a close, with the farewell taking place in front of the home supporters at River Plate’s Monumental Stadium.
