West Indies produced an impressive all-round performance to defeat Pakistan by 90 runs in the opening Test, taking a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. The victory also saw the hosts achieve several notable statistical milestones.
After winning the toss in Trinidad and Tobago, West Indies posted 311 in their first innings, thanks to valuable knocks from Shai Hope (92) and Kevin Hodge (84).
Pakistan responded strongly, with captain Shan Masood scoring 109. After reaching 244 for 3, however, the visitors suffered a dramatic collapse, losing their remaining seven wickets for just 38 runs to be bowled out for 282.
Holding a 29-run first-innings lead, West Indies were dismissed for 181 in their second innings, setting Pakistan a target of 211.
Chasing the modest total, Babar Azam remained unbeaten on 58, but received little support from the rest of the batting lineup. Pakistan were bowled out for 120, handing West Indies a memorable 90-run victory.

Second Test win in 11 matches for West Indies: The Caribbean side has now won two of its last 11 Tests, with the previous victory coming against Sri Lanka. During that span, they have lost seven matches and drawn two.
Fourth five-wicket haul for Jayden Seales: Fast bowler Jayden Seales claimed his fourth five-wicket haul in Test cricket. He also became the first West Indies pace bowler to take five wickets in the fourth innings of a home Test since Jason Holder achieved the feat against Bangladesh in 2018.
Pakistan’s fifth-lowest Test total against West Indies: Pakistan’s second-innings score of 120 ranks as their fifth-lowest Test total against the Caribbean side. Their lowest scores remain 77 (Lahore, 1986), 81 (Bridgetown, 2017), 104 (Lahore, 1959), and 106 (Bridgetown, 1958).
Historic pace-bowling feat: For the first time in Caribbean Test history, all 40 wickets in a match were taken by fast bowlers. It is only the sixth time this has happened in Test cricket worldwide.
Pakistan’s longest away losing streak: Since defeating Sri Lanka away from home in July 2023, Pakistan have now lost eight consecutive away Tests, the longest such losing streak in the nation’s Test history.
