Barcelona moved to the brink of a second straight La Liga title with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Osasuna at El Sadar Stadium on Saturday. Late goals from Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres sealed the victory, leaving the Catalans just one point from glory.
With four matches remaining, Barcelona lead the table on 88 points—14 points clear of second-placed Real Madrid, who have a game in hand. Real Madrid travel to Espanyol on Sunday; a slip-up there would hand Barcelona the trophy.
The game turned in the final stages. In the 81st minute, Marcus Rashford—on loan at Barcelona—delivered a pinpoint cross from the right, which Lewandowski met with a leaping header. Five minutes later, Fermín López threaded a pass to Torres, who slotted home in a one-on-one with the keeper.
Osasuna pulled one back two minutes later through Raúl García’s close-range finish, but it proved too little, too late.
Osasuna dominated much of the possession and created the better chances, with Barcelona goalkeeper Joan García proving the hero. He made several superb saves, including denying Ante Budimir’s shot onto the post in the 35th minute, blocking another effort two minutes later, and thwarting a dangerous attempt in the 69th minute to keep his side in the contest.
The match delivered three goals in its closing 10 minutes, but Barcelona had the last laugh.
