Woman Shot Dead While Entering Vehicle in the Bronx

A woman was fatally shot while attempting to get into her vehicle in the Wakefield neighborhood of the Bronx late Monday night. The incident occurred at around 11:50 p.m. on July 13 near the intersection of Murdock Avenue and Nereid Avenue. Police have not yet identified or arrested the suspect.

The victim, Julia Anderson, 39, was a resident of Mount Vernon. According to police, she was about to enter her black Jeep when an unidentified gunman fired multiple shots at her. Preliminary investigators believe the shots were fired from the passenger side of the vehicle.

Officers responded to the scene after receiving a 911 call and found Anderson lying outside her SUV with multiple gunshot wounds. She was transported to Jacobi Medical Center, where doctors pronounced her dead. Authorities said she had suffered several gunshot wounds to the abdomen.

Investigators have not yet determined whether Anderson was the intended target of the shooting. Police believe she was alone at the time of the attack.

Shortly after the shooting, a woman identifying herself as Anderson’s sister arrived at the scene and was seen grieving.

Police said no arrests have been made, and the suspected gunman remains at large. Detectives are continuing to investigate the motive behind the shooting and are working to identify the suspect.

According to police records, Julia Anderson had no prior criminal history in New York City.
