Annapolis, Maryland | July 26, 2026 — The Bangladesh Christian Association Inc. (BCA), Maryland, held its Annual Summer Picnic 2026 in a festive and joyful atmosphere at the Heron & Osprey Shelter at Sandy Point State Park in Annapolis.
The daylong gathering brought together a large number of Bangladeshi families, guests and well-wishers from across the Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia (DMV) area. The event ran from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and featured a variety of activities, including food, games for children and adults, cultural performances, music and family entertainment. Participants of all ages—from children to seniors—took part enthusiastically, creating a warm and vibrant community gathering.
A special segment was held in the afternoon to commemorate the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence. Participants celebrated the milestone while expressing their appreciation and best wishes for the United States.
Among the distinguished guests were former presidents of BCA and members of its advisory board. The chief guest was retired Auxiliary Bishop of Dhaka Theotonius Gomes, CSC, who was visiting from Bangladesh. Brother Luke Ranjan Purification, CSC, also visiting from Bangladesh, attended as a special guest.
Also present was Anis Ahmed, president of the Bangladesh American Council Inc. and a former commissioner of the Maryland Governor’s AAPI and SAA Commissions. He delivered a special congratulatory message on behalf of Maryland General Assembly Delegate Leslie Lopez.
Other notable guests and community leaders included Kabir Patowary, head of the Ekattor Foundation, and Radwan Chowdhury, current chair of the East County Citizens Advisory Board.
The program was hosted throughout the day by BCA Secretary Bibhas Rosario.
One of the highlights of this year’s picnic was a special raffle marking 30 years of BCA’s journey. More than 30 prizes were awarded to winners through several raffle drawings held throughout the day, generating considerable excitement among attendees.
BCA leaders said the annual summer picnic is more than simply a recreational event. It serves as an important opportunity to strengthen friendship, fellowship, cultural heritage and faith-based connections among Bangladeshi Christians living in the diaspora.
They expressed their commitment to continuing BCA’s religious, social, cultural and humanitarian activities for the benefit of the Bangladeshi Christian community in the United States.
BCA President Bipul Elite Gonsalves expressed sincere gratitude to all members, volunteers, sponsors, guests and participants whose support helped make the event a success. He also requested everyone’s continued cooperation in the association’s future activities.
