Amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran, US President Donald Trump has claimed that the United States is moving closer to what he described as a “major victory” over Iran.
In a recent interview with conservative broadcaster Glenn Beck, Trump also commented on the reported condition of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei. Trump said he did not believe Khamenei was dead but claimed that he had suffered very serious injuries, particularly to the left side of his body, including his arm and leg. Trump did not provide evidence to support the claim.
Trump further suggested that Iranian officials were continuing to seek the supreme leader’s approval for major decisions. He said that if Khamenei were actually dead, Iranian authorities would be maintaining a convincing public appearance by continuing to refer to consultations with him.
Trump Points to US Military and Economic Strength
The US president also highlighted America’s military and financial strength, arguing that these advantages were helping Washington put greater pressure on Tehran.
Trump said US forces had recently destroyed 22 boats and praised the performance of the US military and Navy. He also claimed that the pressure campaign was moving toward what he called a “very big victory.”
He reiterated that preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon remains one of Washington’s central objectives.
Trump’s latest comments come as uncertainty continues over the condition of Mojtaba Khamenei and the extent to which he is currently exercising power. Iranian authorities continue to recognise him as the country’s supreme leader, while his prolonged absence from public view has fueled speculation about his health and political role.
The remarks underline the widening confrontation between Washington and Tehran, with Trump signaling that the United States intends to maintain pressure until it believes its key objectives have been achieved.
