A special musical evening celebrating the rich tradition of classical music and the cultural heritage passed down from one generation to another will be held in Virginia under the title “Parampara.”
The program will feature accomplished vocalist and classical musician Samia Mahbub Ahmed alongside young artist Aupsora Banik, bringing together two generations of performers in an evening devoted to the beauty and depth of raga-based classical music.
According to the organizers, “Parampara” is conceived as a celebration of musical heritage, learning, dedication and continuity. Through their performances, the artists will explore the timeless relationship between tradition and the next generation, offering audiences an opportunity to experience the elegance and spiritual depth of classical music.
The event is being organized by Aparajeyo Bangla for music and culture enthusiasts in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. The evening will highlight not only the aesthetic richness of classical music but also its enduring connection with Bengali cultural traditions.
The program will take place on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at 15941 Donald Curtis Drive, Woodbridge, Virginia 22191.
According to the organizers, doors will open at 4:30 p.m., and the program will begin promptly at 5:00 p.m. The event is scheduled to continue until 8:00 p.m.
The central attraction of “Parampara” will be the performances by the two artists representing two generations. On one side is accomplished musician Samia Mahbub Ahmed, while the younger generation will be represented by Aupsora Banik. Their performances will bring into focus the tradition of teacher and student, rigorous musical practice and the passing of artistic knowledge from one generation to the next.
“Parampara” is also being seen as a cultural initiative to promote the practice of Bengali and South Asian classical music in the diaspora and to introduce younger generations to this rich musical heritage.
