New Immigrant Welcome Center Opens in Manhattan

A new support center for immigrants has opened in Manhattan, offering free assistance and information on immigration-related legal services, social benefits and other city resources.

The new Immigrant Welcome Center, located at 431 West 125th Street in Northern Manhattan, is designed to serve as a walk-in resource for immigrants seeking help navigating government and community services. City officials say the center will provide referrals for legal assistance, benefits navigation, “Know Your Rights” information and other support.

The center is intended particularly for immigrants who may be uncertain about how to access immigration-related legal assistance or government services. Rather than having to navigate multiple agencies separately, visitors can receive information and referrals through a single community-based location.

The center is part of broader efforts in New York City to connect immigrant residents with free and confidential legal assistance. The Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs (MOIA) operates legal support centers across the city, offering services in multiple languages and referrals to city-funded and community-based resources.

New York City is home to immigrants from countries around the world, and the new center is expected to provide a local point of access for information on legal rights, public benefits and other government services.

The initiative comes as immigrant New Yorkers face changing federal immigration policies. City officials have continued to expand information and legal-support resources, including a free immigration legal support hotline and multilingual guidance on recent federal policy changes.
