Justice Khizir Ahmed Chowdhury of Bangladesh has been honored by the Franklin Township Council in the U.S. state of New Jersey.
The recognition was presented on Thursday (April 2) at a private dinner hosted in his honor at an upscale restaurant in New Jersey during his visit to the United States.
Former Deputy Mayor of Franklin Township and Councilwoman Shepa Uddin handed over the honor to Justice Chowdhury at the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Shepa Uddin said the award was given in recognition of his dedicated service as a Justice of Bangladesh’s highest court, particularly for upholding justice and safeguarding the constitutional rights of citizens.
Accepting the honor, Justice Khizir Ahmed Chowdhury expressed his gratitude and thanks to the organizers.
Among those present at the event were industrialist and prominent community figure Golam Faroque Bhuiyan, Editor of Prothom Alo North America Ibrahim Chowdhury Khokon, Rockin Rezwan Haque, Abdul Hai, and other distinguished guests.
