Israeli Airstrikes in Lebanon Kill 12, Including Children and Medical Worker

At least 12 people, including children and a medical worker, have been killed in Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon. The attacks were carried out in several areas early Monday, September 7.

Lebanon’s Health Ministry said Israeli fighter jets struck a residential building in the southern town of Kfar Reman, killing 11 people, including two children, and injuring five others.

Separately, Lebanon’s state news agency reported that an Israeli drone strike on a civilian vehicle in Nabatieh province killed a medical worker.

According to Lebanon’s Health Ministry, at least 27 people have been killed and 69 injured in Israeli attacks across southern Lebanon over the past three days.

On Sunday, an Israeli airstrike in the town of Arab Salim in Nabatieh district killed at least seven people and wounded 20 others.

Israel Says Target Was Linked to Hezbollah

The Israeli military said it had struck a building in the Deir al-Zahrani area of southern Lebanon. According to the military, residents had been instructed to leave the area before the attack.

Israel claimed the building was located near a Hezbollah facility and that explosive-laden drones had been launched from the site.

Tensions Continue Despite De-escalation Deal

The latest strikes come despite a framework agreement reached in June, with U.S. mediation, aimed at reducing hostilities between Israel and Lebanon. Under the agreement, a “pilot zone” is planned in southern Lebanon, where the Lebanese army would work to disarm Hezbollah while Israel would gradually withdraw its forces.

However, Israel continues to control several villages in southern Lebanon and has shown little willingness to carry out further withdrawals.

Al Jazeera reported that the intensifying attacks have created renewed fear and uncertainty across southern Lebanon. Many residents had begun returning home and rebuilding their houses following the agreement, but the latest escalation has raised fresh concerns over their safety.

Heavy Toll on Health Workers

According to Lebanon’s Health Ministry, more than 4,350 people have been killed and over 12,300 injured in Israeli attacks since the conflict intensified in early March.

The ministry also said that 179 attacks targeting ambulances and medical personnel have been recorded in Lebanon since March 2, resulting in the deaths of 135 healthcare workers.
