Iranian Army Chief Major General Amir Hatami has declared Iran the winner of the recent conflict, claiming that the “enemy” failed to achieve its military objectives.
Hatami said that although the opposing side launched attacks aimed at destroying Iran’s drone and missile capabilities, Iran continued to use its missiles and other military assets against the enemy with “extreme intensity” until the final moments of the conflict. His remarks were reported by Qatar-based news outlet Al Jazeera.
According to Hatami, the opposing side’s objective was to destroy Iran’s drone and missile capabilities. However, he said Iran used its remaining missiles and other military capabilities at the highest possible intensity until the end of the war.
He argued that, from a military perspective, an attacking side can be considered victorious only if it achieves its stated objectives. In a defensive war, however, the defending side is considered victorious if the opponent fails to accomplish its goals.
Based on that argument, Hatami said Iran should be regarded as the winner because the “enemy” failed to achieve its objectives.
Iran’s military leadership has repeatedly claimed in recent weeks that military operations by the United States and Israel failed to accomplish their primary goals.
