Iran Warns US of ‘New Weapons and Targets’ if Attacks Resume

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has warned that any further US attack would trigger major changes in Tehran’s military response, including the use of new weapons and attacks on previously untargeted locations.

IRGC spokesperson Brig. Gen. Hossein Mohebbi issued the warning on Monday, saying that “the war is not over” and that Iran is prepared for a prolonged conflict. His remarks were reported by Iran’s Fars news agency and other media outlets.

“If a new aggression occurs, we will certainly change the weaponry and the geography of the war,” Mohebbi said, according to Reuters’ report of the Fars statement. He added that Iran would introduce new weapons and capabilities that had not previously been used.

Iran Signals Change in Targets

Mohebbi also said Iran’s targets would not necessarily remain the same if fighting resumes.

“We have identified new targets that have not yet been attacked,” he said, without providing details about the locations or the weapons Iran might use.

He said the IRGC had been preparing for a prolonged conflict and was now even more prepared for such a scenario. Iranian officials have made similar claims about previously unused strategic weapons, although details about those capabilities have not been independently verified.

Warning Comes Amid Renewed US-Iran Tensions

The warning comes as tensions between Washington and Tehran remain high. US President Donald Trump has said he is considering different options for dealing with Iran, including renewed military action or negotiations. He has also indicated that he may meet Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian during the UN General Assembly in New York this week.

The IRGC statement therefore signals that Tehran views any renewed US offensive as potentially leading to a broader military response. However, the statement does not establish whether Iran has the specific weapons or operational capabilities it claims to possess; those assertions remain largely unverified.
