Iran Remains Silent on Trump’s Conditions for a Deal

Iran has yet to provide any significant official response to the conditions set by US President Donald Trump for ending the conflict in the Gulf region.

In a social media post on Friday (May 29), Trump stated that Iran must agree never to develop nuclear weapons or nuclear bombs. He also demanded the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz without any tariffs or restrictions and called for the removal of naval mines that Iran had allegedly placed along the strategic waterway.

In return, Trump suggested that the United States could consider lifting its naval blockade on Iranian ports.

Responding to Trump’s conditions on Saturday (May 30), Mohsen Rezaei, an adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, said it had been anticipated that the US president would “betray diplomacy for a third time.”

Iran has accused the United States of carrying out attacks against it on two previous occasions while diplomatic negotiations were still underway.

Writing on X, Rezaei said, “By maintaining the naval blockade and making excessive demands during the negotiations, Trump has once again demonstrated that he has no genuine interest in diplomacy and is instead pursuing other objectives.”

Meanwhile, Saeed Azorlou, a member of Iran’s negotiating team, stated that talks with the United States are continuing and that only a few minor disagreements remain unresolved.
