Bangladesh women to open Asian Games campaign against North Korea

Bangladesh will begin their women’s football campaign at the 2026 Asian Games with a tough Group C clash against three-time champions North Korea on September 14, following the release of the tournament schedule.

Peter James Butler’s side will then face South Korea on September 17 before taking on Myanmar on September 20. All three group-stage matches will be played at Nagai Stadium in Osaka.

Bangladesh are making their second appearance in the women’s football competition at the Asian Games after debuting in the 2022 edition in Hangzhou, China. Their first campaign ended in the group stage with one draw and two defeats.

In Hangzhou, Bangladesh suffered an 8-0 loss to Japan in their opening match before going down 6-1 against Vietnam. They earned their only point of the tournament with a 1-1 draw against Nepal after initially taking the lead.

The 20th Asian Games will begin on September 1 in Japan’s Aichi-Nagoya region, with Bangladesh aiming for an improved performance in this year’s competition.
