On August 5, 2026, marking the second anniversary of July Uprising Day, a prayer gathering was organized at the Bangladesh Consulate General in New York to commemorate those who lost their lives during the July uprising.
The program began with a collective prayer, followed by a documentary video highlighting the background of the July 2024 movement and the historic mass uprising led by students and the public. Later, officials from the Consulate and several prominent members of the expatriate Bangladeshi community delivered speeches.
During the program, one speaker began his remarks by identifying himself as a member of the NCP. BNP supporters subsequently asked him to leave the event, resulting in a tense situation at the gathering.
A significant number of expatriate Bangladeshis attended the event and joined the prayers in remembrance of those who lost their lives during the uprising.
