Bangladesh is taking steps to resume direct flights between Dhaka and New York, with the service expected to restart next year. On September 16, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister M. Rashiduzzaman Millat discussed the plan during a meeting in Dhaka with U.S. Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T. Christensen.
The minister said the initiative is being pursued in consideration of the growing commercial and diplomatic ties between Bangladesh and the United States, as well as the travel needs of the large Bangladeshi community living in the United States.
The news is particularly significant for Bangladeshis in New York. If direct flights are introduced, travelers flying between Dhaka and New York could have less dependence on connecting flights, potentially making the journey more convenient and straightforward for Bangladeshi passengers.
