Iran says its armed forces carried out a large-scale drone strike against American military assets at Al Minhad Air Base in the United Arab Emirates early Monday.
According to Iran’s Mehr News Agency, the operation was launched as retaliation for what Tehran described as a recent U.S. attack on Iran’s Larak Island. Iranian authorities said members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and civilians were killed in that operation.
In a statement issued by the Iranian military’s public relations department, Al Minhad was described as an important regional hub for foreign military logistics and air transport. Iranian forces said the drone operation was intended to inflict significant damage on U.S. positions at the facility.
Iran vows further retaliation
The Iranian military said its forces would maintain a firm posture until what it calls regional threats have been eliminated and the country’s territorial integrity is secured.
Tehran also framed the attack as retaliation for casualties suffered during the ongoing confrontation with the United States, reiterating its pledge to respond to the deaths of Iranian military personnel and civilians.
The reported strike comes amid rapidly escalating tensions between Iran and the United States, with military operations and retaliatory threats raising concerns about a wider confrontation across the Gulf region.
