Three members of the same family were killed after a reported U.S. strike hit a residential building on Iran’s Qeshm Island, according to Iranian state media. Two children were also injured in the incident.
Iran’s state news agency IRNA reported that the strike took place early Thursday in the Chah Tangu area of Qeshm Island, located in the southern province of Hormozgan.
Citing Hormozgan Deputy Governor Ahmad Nafisi, IRNA said rescue teams had completed search and debris removal operations at the damaged home.
According to Nafisi, those killed were the father, mother, and one of their children. The family’s two other children were injured and taken to hospital for treatment.
Earlier, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said American forces had carried out “heavy” strikes against multiple targets in Iran in response to what it described as an attempted Iranian missile attack on U.S. forces stationed in the Middle East.
The United States has not immediately commented on the Iranian reports of civilian casualties or confirmed the specific incident involving the residential building.
