Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed that more than 200 U.S. service members were killed during the 15-day conflict with the United States, alleging that the casualty figures released by the Pentagon are inaccurate.
In an interview with Tasnim News Agency, IRGC spokesperson Hossein Mohebi said the U.S. military suffered far heavier losses during “Operation Victory-2” than Washington has acknowledged.
Mohebi claimed that over 200 American troops were killed, with many more wounded, and accused the Pentagon of concealing the true extent of its casualties.
He also called on the United States to allow journalists access to the military bases targeted by Iranian missile strikes, saying this would verify Iran’s claims.
According to the IRGC, eight U.S. military bases were targeted during Operation Victory-2. The group alleged that missile strikes hit 20 facilities and aircraft hangars at one of the bases, destroying:
11 U.S. military aircraft and helicopters
17 reconnaissance and operational drones
One F-15 fighter jet
One P-8 maritime patrol aircraft
One C-17 military transport aircraft
Eight aerial refueling aircraft
Previously, the Pentagon stated that 18 U.S. troops had been killed in the conflict. However, several international media outlets later reported a revised death toll of 14, noting that the United States had publicly identified some of the deceased by name and photograph.
As of now, the U.S. government has not publicly responded to the IRGC’s latest claims. Reuters has also reported that it has been unable to independently verify Iran’s casualty figures or its claims regarding the destruction of U.S. military equipment.
