Tensions between the United States and Iran have escalated once again after Iran reportedly shot down an American drone in the country’s Bushehr region.
According to Iranian media reports, the drone was brought down on Thursday night, May 28, using Iran’s air defense system. The Iranian military reportedly intercepted and destroyed the unmanned aircraft in the coastal province of Bushehr.
Bushehr, located in southern Iran along the Persian Gulf, has previously witnessed similar drone-related incidents.
Masoud Tangestani, the governor of Jam County in Bushehr, told the semi-official Tasnim News Agency, “The incident that occurred tonight was related to the destruction of an enemy aerial vehicle. The city is now in a normal situation.”
Earlier, Iran’s military had launched missiles from the country’s southern region. Tasnim News, citing informed sources, reported that the missiles were fired toward specific targets.
The latest developments have added a new layer of tension to the already fragile relationship between Washington and Tehran.
