Bioscope Films Hosts “Meet the Press” for Pressure Cooker

Bioscope Films is once again bringing a new cinematic release to audiences with its 54th presentation. The full-length feature film Pressure Cooker, directed by Raihan Rafi, is being released in theaters across the United States starting May 15.

To mark the occasion, a “Meet the Press” event was held on Wednesday, May 13, at Gulshan Terrace in Woodside. During the event, Bioscope Films executive Rubna Rashid and director Raihan Rafi answered questions from journalists about the film. Pressure Cooker is the seventh full-length feature directed by Raihan Rafi.

During the program, Bioscope Films founder Raj Hamid joined via video call to extend his greetings and express optimism that the movie would receive a positive response from New York audiences. He said Bioscope Films has always aimed to present quality films to viewers and thanked audiences for their continued support. Due to health issues, he was unable to attend the event in person this year.

Director Raihan Rafi explained that one of the film’s main attractions is its four female lead characters, around whom the story revolves. He described the project as a major challenge because female-centered films are often considered commercially risky. However, he said the overwhelming audience turnout in theaters in Dhaka convinced him that viewers’ tastes and expectations are changing positively.

At the event, director Raihan Rafi, along with Nowshaba and Rubna Rashid, responded to questions from attending journalists. They concluded the program by encouraging audiences to watch the film in theaters.

The lead cast of Pressure Cooker includes Nazifa Tushi, Shabnam Bubly, Maria Shanti, and Snigdha Chowdhury.

The film will be screened from May 15 through May 21 at Kew Gardens Cinema in Jamaica, New York.
