The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced that it carried out strikes on several radar and drone-related facilities located in Goruk and Qeshm Island in southern Iran. In a statement released on Monday, the US military said the operation was conducted in response to Iran’s alleged involvement in the downing of a US MQ-1 drone over international waters.

According to CENTCOM, the operation targeted and destroyed parts of Iran’s air defense system, a ground control station, and two suicide attack drones. The United States claimed that these military assets posed a potential threat to commercial and military vessels operating in the region.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it launched a retaliatory strike following the US attack. Iranian media reported that the response came after a communications tower on Sirik Island in Hormozgan Province was targeted, prompting the IRGC to launch an operation against an airbase allegedly used by US forces.

The IRGC claimed that its aerospace unit successfully struck its designated targets. However, it did not disclose the location of the targeted US facility or provide details regarding any damage caused by the attack.

Amid rising regional tensions, Kuwait reportedly activated its air defense systems over concerns of a possible attack. Local sources said warning sirens were heard in several areas during the heightened security alert.

Observers believe the latest developments are likely to further escalate tensions between the United States and Iran, adding to concerns over stability and security in the Middle East.
