U.S. President Donald Trump has categorically ruled out the possibility of using nuclear weapons against Iran, saying Washington has no need to deploy its nuclear arsenal against the country. He also clarified that the widely discussed “Mother of All Bombs” (MOAB) is not a nuclear weapon but an extremely powerful conventional bomb.
Trump made the remarks in an exclusive interview with U.S. media outlet Newsmax on Thursday, October 15, local time, according to Anadolu Agency.
Asked about speculation that the U.S. administration might use the bomb in a major military operation against Iranian nuclear facilities following the U.S. midterm elections, Trump offered a clear response.
During the interview, Trump emphasized that the Mother of All Bombs is not a nuclear weapon. “It’s just a very big conventional bomb,” he said, explaining that although it is an exceptionally large and powerful bomb, it has nothing to do with nuclear weapons.
Asked whether the United States was considering a nuclear strike against Iran, Trump responded unequivocally: “No, I will not use nuclear weapons. We have no need to do that.”
During the interview, Trump was also asked whether he trusted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Expressing his skepticism, he replied, “To be honest, I don’t trust anybody. In the world of politics, I don’t trust anybody.”
