MUMBAI, September 21, 2026 — Bollywood actor Salman Khan has spoken out against online trolling and body shaming directed at actress Katrina Kaif following the birth of her first child.
During the latest episode of Bigg Boss 20’s Weekend Ka Vaar, Khan criticized social media users who target celebrities over their appearance, weight, age and personal lives. His remarks about women gaining weight after pregnancy were widely interpreted as a response to the recent trolling faced by Katrina, although he did not mention her by name.
“Everyone puts on weight after pregnancy,” Khan said, adding that there was no reason to troll a woman for changes in her body after becoming a mother. He said Katrina could regain her fitness when she returned to films and should be allowed to spend time with her family for now.
Katrina has recently faced social media comments about her appearance and alleged weight gain after attending the Ambani family’s Ganpati celebrations in Mumbai. Khan’s comments quickly circulated online, with many users praising him for speaking against body shaming.
Salman also addresses age-shaming
Khan also discussed the criticism he receives over his own appearance and age. Referring to comments that he has grown old, the 60-year-old actor said it was unrealistic to expect him to look the way he did during his Maine Pyar Kiya days.
At one point during the episode, he removed his hat and T-shirt and wiped off his makeup to challenge those who criticize celebrities for their changing appearances.
He also criticized paparazzi for taking intrusive or inappropriate photographs of actresses and questioned the practice of turning such images into social media content.
Katrina and Salman’s long association
Salman and Katrina have worked together in several films and were romantically linked for several years before ending their relationship. Katrina later married actor Vicky Kaushal in 2021.
The couple welcomed their first child, a son, in November 2025. Salman’s remarks came amid renewed public discussion of Katrina’s appearance following her transition into motherhood.
