Trump Promises $5,000 Payments if Republicans Win Midterm Elections

President Donald Trump has promised to give $5,000 to every adult American if Republicans retain control of Congress in the midterm elections scheduled for November.

Speaking at a Republican midterm election conference in Dallas on Wednesday, Trump said, “If Republicans win, you win with us and you get $5,000.” He said the payment would be known as the “Trump Dividend.”

Trump did not explain where the money would come from. If paid to every adult American, the program could theoretically cost more than $1 trillion. He offered only that “our country is making a lot of money.”

Despite trailing in opinion polls, Trump emphasized his role in helping Republicans retain control of both chambers of Congress. He urged supporters to treat the election as if he himself were on the ballot.

“I’m telling you, assume I’m on the ballot,” Trump said, repeating that he was effectively on the ballot “one more time.”

Trump’s approval rating has remained around 30 percent, according to recent polling, while voter dissatisfaction has grown over high prices and the war with Iran.

According to a forecast by Decision Desk HQ, Democrats could win control of the House in November with an estimated 230–205 majority and hold a 51–49 majority in the Senate.

Trump Defends Iran War

Trump also strongly defended the unpopular U.S. war with Iran during his address. He predicted victory in the conflict and linked an eventual U.S. victory directly to lower oil prices.

He also suggested the possibility of renaming the strategically important Strait of Hormuz after himself.

“Food prices and almost all other prices are coming down rapidly,” Trump said, adding that oil prices would fall once the United States wins the war with Iran. “The war is now underway,” he said.

Trump Warns of ‘Communist’ America

Like other Republicans at the conference, Trump warned of what he described as the threat of a growing wave of communism in the United States.

He claimed that a Democratic victory would turn the country into a communist nation and told voters that their decision would determine whether the United States would “stumble” at the beginning of its next 250 years or move forward without looking back.

Trump is scheduled to deliver another address at the conference’s closing session on Thursday. Vice President JD Vance is expected to speak before him.

The conference also features Cabinet officials, congressional leaders and candidates running in key House and Senate races.
