Yash’s upcoming film Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups is generating strong momentum at the box office even before its theatrical release, with advance ticket sales reportedly reaching ₹24.27 crore gross in India.
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the action-crime period drama is scheduled to hit cinemas on August 26. The film has already attracted considerable attention, with audiences showing strong interest ahead of its release.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Toxic has sold around 639,966 tickets across India, with 14,104 shows booked so far. Including blocked seats, the film’s reported gross booking value has reached approximately ₹32.85 crore.
Hindi and Kannada markets lead bookings
The Hindi and Kannada versions are driving most of the advance business.
The Hindi 2D version has generated about ₹11.06 crore, making it the biggest contributor. The Kannada 2D version follows closely with approximately ₹10.99 crore.
Premium formats have also contributed to the film’s pre-release numbers:
Hindi IMAX 2D: ₹28.57 lakh
Hindi 4DX: ₹22.17 lakh
Kannada IMAX 2D: ₹71.28 lakh
Kannada 4DX: ₹21.45 lakh
Among the other language versions, the Tamil 2D release has recorded around ₹44.85 lakh, while Malayalam 2D has earned approximately ₹19.11 lakh. The Telugu 2D version has brought in about ₹13.38 lakh, while the Hindi Dolby Cinema version has generated roughly ₹64,700.
Yash leads an ensemble cast
Toxic stars Yash in the lead role, with Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth in important roles.
Set against the backdrop of post-independence Goa, the film follows a gangster and explores themes of loyalty, morality and the struggle to escape the consequences of one’s past.
With advance bookings already showing strong numbers, the film is heading into its opening day with considerable expectations.
