Israel has rejected a proposed comprehensive peace plan for Gaza and the establishment of a Palestinian state. Eight Muslim-majority countries, including Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, have condemned Israel’s position.
In a joint statement issued on Monday, August 17, the eight countries said Israel’s stance amounts to a direct departure from President Donald Trump’s comprehensive plan and threatens its implementation.
The statement also said Israel’s rejection is obstructing efforts to establish peace in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories. As a result, Israel was held responsible for creating obstacles to the pursuit of peace in Gaza.
The eight countries said that the acceptance of the roadmap by Palestinian groups was the result of broader diplomatic efforts. They warned that Israel’s current position poses a direct threat to those efforts led by President Trump.
The countries further emphasized that a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace can only be achieved through the implementation of a two-state solution.
The statement called on all parties to support the implementation of the roadmap and cooperate with ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at advancing the comprehensive peace plan.
