Iran Warns US of ‘Devastating’ Retaliation Following Latest Airstrikes

Major General Ali Abdollahi, commander of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, has issued a stern warning to the United States, promising a “severe and devastating” response to any further American military actions. The statement comes amid rapidly escalating tensions between the two nations.

Key Statements from Iran
In a statement published by Iranian state media, General Abdollahi asserted that the country’s armed forces are fully prepared to counter any aggression.

On Retaliation: “Any aggression or hostility will be met with a resolute and destructive response,” Abdollahi warned.

On Internal Unity: The commander criticized US strategy, claiming that after repeated military failures, “the enemy is now attempting to create division between the leadership and the public.” He emphasized that defense capabilities remain the bedrock of peace and security for the Iranian people.

A Warning on Costs: Abdollahi concluded by cautioning that the US would pay a “much higher price” than in previous conflicts if hostilities continue.

Context: Recent US Airstrikes
The Iranian warning follows a series of fresh US airstrikes launched against Iranian targets on Saturday. According to Washington, the operation was a direct response to a prior attack in Jordan that left two US service members dead and one missing.

Key Details of the US Military Action:
The Command: US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed the operation began at approximately 6:00 PM local time, following direct orders from President Donald Trump.

The Targets: CENTCOM stated the strikes specifically targeted the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) responsible for the Jordan attack. The operation also aimed to degrade Iran’s capability to threaten commercial vessels in the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

The Impact: Iranian news agency Mehr reported that the US strikes hit near the Sirik area in southern Iran. According to early local reports, no casualties or significant infrastructure damage have been confirmed.
