Bangladeshi Man Fatally Shot While Delivering DoorDash Order in Philadelphia

Mohammad Mahfuzul Haque, 43, originally from Rajshahi, Bangladesh, and a resident of Northeast Philadelphia, was shot and killed while making a DoorDash food delivery on Tuesday night. (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilayhi Raji’un.)

According to Philadelphia police, officers responded to the 1000 block of South Etting Street in the Kingsessing neighborhood at approximately 9:30 p.m., where they found Haque suffering from a gunshot wound to the back of his head. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators recovered his vehicle, which was still running, a DoorDash delivery bag, and two spent rifle shell casings at the scene. Based on the preliminary investigation, police believe the shooting was a targeted homicide. Authorities have identified three masked individuals as persons of interest and the investigation remains ongoing.

Mohammad Mahfuzul Haque was formerly employed at Al-Sham Willow Grove. He is survived by his wife and their 14-year-old child.

The tragic killing has sent shockwaves through the Bangladeshi-American community in the Philadelphia area, where friends and community members are mourning the loss of a hardworking family man while hoping those responsible are swiftly brought to justice.
