Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi has warned that Tehran will respond immediately and forcefully to any threat targeting the Iranian people or the country’s supreme leadership, dismissing recent remarks by Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz as “ridiculous.” In a post on X on Wednesday, Araghchi said any hostile action or threat against Iran’s leadership would receive a swift and decisive response.
His comments came after Katz referred to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, saying that his “death is inevitable.” The Israeli defense minister also accused Iran of attempting to gain leverage through negotiations and reiterated that Israel would not allow Tehran to develop nuclear weapons. He added that if the objective could be achieved through a diplomatic agreement, that would be the preferred outcome.
Responding to the remarks, Araghchi said the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in Islamabad are clear and publicly available. He further claimed that the U.S. president had pledged to keep Tel Aviv under control, warning that if Israel ignored those commitments, Iran would deliver an appropriate response. Reaffirming Tehran’s position, Araghchi said any threat against the Iranian nation or its leadership would be met with an immediate and powerful reaction.
