Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that Israel must free itself from military dependence on the United States in order to continue its fight against Iran and its allied groups. He also stressed the need for Israel to develop its own domestic weapons manufacturing capabilities. The remarks were reported by The Times of Israel.
Speaking at a meeting with reserve combat officers in Gush Etzion in the West Bank, Netanyahu said, “I deeply appreciate the support we have received from our American friends over the years. However, today I am saying that we need an independent arms production system. We must manufacture our own weapons.”
The Israeli prime minister added that Israel is currently confronting Iran and its proxies and has inflicted significant blows against them. “This is not over yet, but our success depends on our own strength,” he said. “Where we will be in the next 30 years depends on our strength. That is why we are now building even greater capabilities.”
Netanyahu reiterated his vision of establishing an independent defense manufacturing sector in Israel. He emphasized the importance of reducing external dependence, expanding military strength, integrating advanced technologies, and training future generations of commanders.
“We need to free ourselves from dependence, build more strength, incorporate more technology, and train more generations of commanders like you,” Netanyahu said. “In the end, that is what will determine our position and future.”
