A FOOD DRIVE SUPPORTS ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED FAMILIES

Save The People USA (STPUSA) organized a major halal food distribution initiative on May 21, 2026, in Jamaica, Queens, providing emergency food assistance to families facing food insecurity and economic hardship. The program was supported by Human Concern USA and Prothom Alo Foundation Inc.

The community food drive supported more than 500 households. The initiative aimed to help vulnerable residents access culturally appropriate food and essential supplies during a difficult time for many immigrants and low-income families.

The event was organized as part of STPUSA’s ongoing commitment to supporting underserved communities across New York City. Several community organizations and volunteers collaborated to make the distribution successful. Community leaders, including Farkrul Islam Delowar, Md. Saiful Alam of the Jamaica Hillside Association, and representatives from the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs, attended the event.

Organizers emphasized the importance of dignity, compassion, and community solidarity in responding to rising food insecurity.

Community leaders stated that the initiative reflected the power of grassroots partnerships and volunteer-driven action in addressing hunger and supporting struggling families. Many recipients expressed gratitude for the timely assistance and continued support provided by local organizations.

Volunteers played a central role throughout the event by organizing, preparing, packing, and distributing food packages to residents.

Organizers also noted that the event was not only about food distribution, but also about building trust, hope, and stronger connections within the community. The program highlighted how coordinated community action can create a meaningful impact for families experiencing hardship.

As food insecurity continues to affect many New Yorkers, STPUSA and its partners plan to continue organizing direct support programs and community-based relief initiatives for vulnerable residents across the city.
