Professor Shoaib Receives Joint Legislative Resolution from New Jersey Senate and General Assembly

Professor Shoaib Ahamed Bhuiyan has been honored with a Joint Legislative Resolution from the New Jersey State Senate and General Assembly in recognition of his contributions to media and community leadership during Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month. He is the first Bangladeshi American to receive this prestigious
recognition.

The recognition highlights Professor Shoaib’s work in media, education, and public advocacy, as well as his efforts to amplify the voices and achievements of the Bangladeshi American and broader South Asian communities in the United States. Professor Shoaib, who teaches Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence at Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU), has also served as a faculty member at institutions including Columbia University, Pace University, the City University of New York (CUNY), and NASD. Beyond academia, he is recognized as a prominent voice in national and international media, advocating for social justice, religious freedom, anti-war initiatives, equal rights, and the fight against institutional racism. His work emphasizes human dignity and equity regardless of race, nationality, faith, or political affiliation. Professor Shoaib was also the first Bangladeshi American elected as a Faculty Senator at the City University of New York’s LaGuardia Community College (LAGCC) Senate.He has appeared in interviews and discussions across a wide range of media outlets including ABC News, NBC News, Al Jazeera, TRT World, Future Startup, and several other international platforms.

He is the founder of the bilingual alternative media platform New Media Republic TV USA and host of The Democracy and Justice Show, which has received millions of views across Asia, the Americas, Europe, and Africa.

The Joint Legislative Resolution was presented by Assemblywoman Shama Haider as part of events recognizing the impact and achievements of AAPI leaders and professionals across New Jersey. Speaking after receiving the honor, Professor Ahamed expressed gratitude
for the recognition and dedicated the achievement to the Bangladeshi American community and aspiring young professionals working in media, education, and public service. The recognition marks a significant milestone for Bangladeshi Americans in New Jersey and reflects the growing contributions of the community in academia, media, technology, and public life.
